Formal Interview

Last Tuesday at 9 am, I interviewed professor Robb McCollum in General Classroom.
First, I asked some questions about his background. He is the professor at ALCC and also is the leader of ALCC. He got a Ph.D. in TESOL and Instructor psychology. He also has two children. In my opinion, he can be considered a successful person. I divided success into three parts. Academic and career, personal, service to others. He had achievement in his academic career, he was kind and patient in his personal success. In addition, as a teacher, the purpose is to help students to learn new knowledge. I was curious about his opinion about whether he is a successful person. He thought service to others is the most important one. He said: "You can do No.3(helping others) very well if you don't also have the other two." He thought these kinds of people also can be considered a successful person. In his opinion, the successful people should be patient and persistent. Actually, through the conversation, I found, in his opinion, helping others is an important point. Almost every question he had mentioned. I also asked him to give some suggestions for the students who want to be successful. He said you should find the courses or major you are interested in. We should find something you really like.
I think I seemed to have a lesson in this interview. I learned something I didn't listen to in the class. Robb is a good professor, he thinks more for others, I consider that's why he is successful now. After the interview, I asked some about the study. He was also patient and earnestly gave me suggestions. I realized the importance of helping others, it does not only make others happy but also make myself happy and meaningful.
In the future, helping others can become a habit, it's also a skill in life.
